The Samui Verticolor, Chaweng has been around since a while, but in 2009 renovations started and it looks a lot better from the outside now and most of the rooms are now in good shape.

They have a great pool and a good gym and all of Chaweng's highlights are more or less within walking distance or fairly nearby. Shops, 7-11's, restaurants, bars and the nightlife area are all nearby. Be aware thought that Samui Verticolor, Chaweng is not located at Chaweng beach, the beach is a few minutes walk away, so not too difficult to access.

Wifi doesn't always seem to work that well, something to keep in mind.

With it's 151 rooms, this may be an easy and convenient option to stay downtown Chaweng.

KC Resort & Over Water Villas, Chaweng

The KC Resort & Over Water Villas, Chaweng is located at the Norther part of Chaweng, a few minutes away from the hustle and bustle if you have wheels, a bit longer if you're on foot. 

With their 95 rooms they have a good choice in rooms and villas. The location however is not on the beach, that's a bit of a walk away or you can use the hotels shuttle and hence the 'over the water'  part in their name doesn't mean that you have a room over the ocean.

The hotel is at the side of the road away from the beach and in that general area there is no beach, it's very rocky and steep.

It seems that rooms are not as good as they once were, the reviews are very mixed. The general review is still very good though and the average score is very positive.

If you want a quiet stay near the hustle and bustle of Chaweng, this can be your choice, with often very good deals available.

The Fair House Beach Resort & Hotel, Chaweng

The Fair House Beach Resort & Hotel, Chaweng is located at Chaweng Noi beach, the Southern part of Chaweng, and it's a small bay with just a limited amount of hotels and/or resorts located here. Among it's neighbors are the slightly more upscale Vana Belle and New Star.

The hotel has basically two sections, one the original building which is furthest away from the beach and now houses the cheaper rooms, with it's own pool. The rooms here are very good value and in good shape.

Further down towards the beach a new complex has been build where the slightly more expensive and newer rooms are located. Here you can find another pool and the restaurant cum breakfast area. The breakfast buffet is good and has a very nice array of dishes and includes good Asian and Western options.

There are 172 rooms waiting for you with a very affordable price, with all the amenities you expect in a room, including good wifi on a very nice and quiet beach, not far away form the downtown hustle and bustle of Chaweng. 

No doubt that this comes recommended.

Deva Samui Resort & Spa, Plai Laem

The Deva Samui Resort & Spa, Plai Laem is located near the Big Buddha and is just under 3km from Koh Samui's airport and around the corner from where I live.

With it's 4 star rating and 79 rooms, it lives up to the promises it makes, a nice and quiet hideaway, but be aware that the beach can be great to look at but is not very good for swimming due to the many rocks in the water.

On the other hand though, sunsets are awesome here, and there's a nice restaurant on the beach with a great view towards Big Buddha and the Bophud bay. 

Plenty of restaurants, shops and other attractions are nearby, like at Fisherman's Village and Chaweng, both about 15 minutes away. it will be good to have your own wheels and you can rent motorbikes (drive carefully) or cars.

For a nice and quiet getaway with medium ranged prices, the Deva Samui Resort & Spa, Plai Laem will be a good choice with it's quiet location but still nearby plenty of busier places.

Kirikayan Luxury Pool Villas & Spa Hotel, Maenam

The Kirikayan Luxury Pool Villas & Spa Hotel, Maenam has only 29 rooms, but the smallest room or rather villa starts at 100 square meters, the Kirikayan Villa. With 600 square meters, the Honeymoon Pool villa does a god job as well with being spacious.

The resort is the sister hotel of the Kirikayan Boutique Resort in Chaweng, with twice a day free shuttles between the two resorts.

The Maenam Villas are not near the ocean but the Chaweng boutique resort is. The first shuttle departs at 11am. At Maenam Villas you're a little bit away from the village of Maenam but it's well worth checking out, especially the Thursday evening walking street event or the many restaurants available.

Very good value for a 4 star hotel, well worth checking out.

Tango Luxe Samui Beach Villas, Plai Laem

Tango Luxe Samui Beach Villas, Plai Laem finds itsef back at the Plai Laem shore line, next to and with a view on to Big Buddha.

The 14 luxury Villa's are located in an area with plenty of activities nearby, like bars, restaurants and a mini golf course just to name a few.

Bang Rak and Choengmon are also not too far away, with even more options. You will need wheels though, to get around.

Although the beach is not among Samui's best options, you will have lovely sunsets here and with a private pool, life is not going to be too hard.

Enjoy a quiet location with your own privacy.

Villa Nalinnadda, Lamai

The Villa Nalinnadda, Lamai is located a bit South of Lamai and is a small, very friendly and family run hotel. With only 9 rooms and the quality they deliver, it's by all means a real boutique hotel.

The rooms are comfortable and have relaxing furnished terrace areas. With two walls consisting almost completely of glass, the rooms are bright and and nice a great view over the ocean, just in front of the hotel.

The beach in front of the hotel is not that great for swimming but there's a lovely pool to enjoy and lay back at.

For outside food options, you will have to make your way to Lamai itself, where there are plenty of options, the Villa Nalinnadda, Lamai is relatively isolated and not many food or shopping options are nearby. It makes for a great relaxing time though.

With the Sunset Beach Resort & Spa, Baan Taling Ngam you have a small and intimate  four star resort with just 21 rooms and/or villa, with a concept based on maximizing privacy and space for people who want to relax and celebrate their well-being. Not hard to do here! A private beach and pools are at hand.

Taling Ngam is fairly isolated, it's not the action packed center of the island but a lot more laid back and quiet. Still, a very nice part of the island.

The resort boasts it's own restaurant on the premises and nearby are some other options. 

Enjoy the quiet and relaxed Southern part of the island in a medium range pricing arrangement.

Dara Samui Beach Resort & Spa Villa in Chaweng

The Dara Samui Beach Resort & Spa Villa in Chaweng is a fairly new Resort, being build in 2005 and 2006 and it was opened in 2007 for the middle luxury market segment. It was built in a 'Lanna' Northern Thai style with authentic details such as real gold leaf layer pictures on doors and wall murals. With great eye for detail, the result of all of this is a resort that uniquely represents the best of ancient Siam with all modern conveniences integrated to a harmonious concept.

Besides this, it's 70 rooms are located near all the hustle and bustle of downtown Chaweng, with all the shopping, dining and night time conveniences, whilst still being able to offer a quiet environment once you are inside the resort premises.

The resort offers two dining options with the Dara Serene, near the sea front and the Lanna Restaurant facing the lively Chaweng Beach road.

Dara means star and I can recommend staying in this comfortable resort and enjoy the beautiful Chaweng Beach.

Sheraton Samui Resort, Chaweng

Sheraton is coming to town and they do that with the Sheraton Samui Resort, Chaweng. Sheraton took over the former Imperial Samui Hotel, After recent renovations and upgrades, the Sheraton Samui Resort, Chaweng is open and operating and is heading for it's grand opening very soon.

The locations is great, on the quiet and relaxed Chaweng Noi beach, which is separated from the main Chaweng Beach with the same quality of beach, just a bit more quiet.

The hotel has all the 'mod cons' in a brand new suit and comes highly recommended.
