List of recommended Samui hotels

This is a growing list of recommended Samui hotels.

Having lived on Koh Samui since the end of 1999, I feel that I can give an honest and true report on many hotels on Koh Samui. Not only just a recommendation but also a reason why I like or recommend a specific resort or hotel, like those many times when I get asked about accommodation on Samui.

For booking purposes, I use and recommend the following sites;

Hotels Combined since they give you the best deals from various search engines combined and without a big effort you get the best deal(s) available on either Koh Samui or Thailand.

Agoda, since they have good rates, a wide choice and have easy to use websites . They also have an excellent reward program.

More booking sites may be added in due time.

This list, that will keep growing over time, are the hotels that I recommend, click on each link for more information and booking links. Each hotel link will have various links for reservations and rates at the bottom of each review so you can compare prices;

Dear Mr Camille

Do you know the room rate of P & P samui resort at July and August?
It is on the Chaweng beach. We can't find their web site.
And can you recommend any hotel at chaweng beach of Koh Samui?

Rome rate under 1500b with hot shower and with seaview is better .

The Chaweng Regent Beach Resort that you recommend on your web site is too expensive for us.

Or do you know any new hotel on Chaweng beach has promotion.

Someone say the sunrise view on Chaweng beach is great, have you see it before?

Thanks a lot.

Hi Cordi,

Thanks for your enquiry.

Not sure of the P&P actually has a webpage!

For a comprehensive list of hotels on Chaweng, including prices in THB have a look here http://www.r24.org/idcthailand.net/samui/hotels/

Seaview may not be that easy to find for 1.500,-THB but I can recommend Chaweng Beach, Al’s Hut, The Island resort and Spa amongst others.

Sunrise can be nice indeed on Chaweng! Hope you find accommodation accordingly and anjoy your stay.

Cheers,
Camille

Dear Camille,

Thanks for all your infos, your blog is fantastic!
e have booked 4 nights at the Muang Samui Spa resort from the 18th of April and we are a bit scared with what happening in Samui!
Do you know this hotel?
Do you know if it has been damaged?
Should we cancel our stay in Samui and choose another Island?

Many thanks!

David

Hi David,

Come th 18th I would expect everything to be fine again, obviously no guarantee! I have no information about the situation at the Muang Samui.

Hi Camille,

Do you have any reviews on Le Meridien Koh Samui?

Hi Mynt,

Not yet, on my list of places to visit!

Hi Camille, very nice website! I have been studying the weather reports for August with great interest. We will be coming to Samui for two weeks for our honeymoon at the start of August and wondered if you can recommend some nice hotels to stay. We would like somewhere nice and relaxing and to have some privacy, be close to a nice beach, be quiet but also within walking distance of nice restaurants and bars.something with a bit of the wow factor but for a good price. we will probably like to move around to a couple of places and to see some lovely beaches. Any advice would be great. Thanks Andrew

Hi Andrew,

August should be good for the weather.

For hotel choices, maybe The White House on Choengmon beach or Prana Resort in Bang Rak might be good starting points to look into

Hi Camille, thanks for the information, we are looking at Akaryn Resort & Spa and it looks very nice, but we just want to know if you think that we can walk from there to other restaurants and bars outside of the resort? Also, what is the beach like, good for swimming and walking through the water? Looks good for the price?
Thanks Andrew

Hi Andrew,

The Akyran is indeed nice but fairly isolated, There's nothing really nearby to walk to and the beach may be nice and sandy but I would expect some rocks on the shoreline.

Ok, thanks. one last question, I promise. We are now really interested in Saree Samui on Mae nam beach. It looks good for the money and close to lots of restaurants. Also seems to have good reviews, would this be a good choice for a honeymoon do you think? We would like some privacy, is this place too busy?
Thanks Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Although the hotel is in a fairly isolated location, it's indeed surprisingly near to some local restaurants. Unfortunately I'm not familiar enough with the resort to know how busy it is.
